BULLDOZER PROTESTOR ACQUITTED

An anti-mining activist from Armidale was today acquitted of three charges relating to a protest at Boggabri coal mine last year.
Carmel Flint was arrested last April, after she chained herself to a bulldozer in an effort to save endangered bush land surrounding the site.
She was charged with entering and remaining on enclosed land, and hindering the working of mining equipment.
Ms Flint says her acquittal suggests that the police pursuit of community protestors has been heavy-handed and unnecessary.
