MAN ALLEGEDLY THREATENS POLICE WITH KNIFE

Two men have been arrested after a police officer was allegedly threatened with a knife in Newcastle yesterday.
Officers were patrolling Hamilton South just after 2pm, when they were allegedly approached by a member of the public about a possible brawl on Fowler Street.
As a police car stopped near the crowd, a 28-year-old man allegedly approached the driver’s side window armed with a large knife.
The driver had the window down as he spoke with the man, who allegedly raised the knife at him.
The driver’s partner, got out of the vehicle, telling the man to drop the knife.
The man dropped the weapon, and the two officers arrested him.
A 28-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were charged, and will face Newcastle Local Court later today.
