SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FOR HUNTER AND NORTH COAST

The State Emergency service has warned to batten down the hatches as a complex low pressure system develops in the Tasman sea.
The Bureau of Meteorology has put out a severe weather warning for the Hunter and Mid North Coast.
It’s warning of damaging wind averaging 40 kilometres an hour with peak gusts up to 90.
At Norah Head on the Central Coast average gusts have been 65 kilomtres an hour with a peak of 93.
Heavy rain has also fallen on the Central Coast and Newcastle.
The SES advises that people should:
– Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
– Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
– Keep clear of fallen power lines.
– Don’t drive, ride or walk through flood water.
– Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
– Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
