JAIL OFFICER ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH INMATE

Police have charged a corrective services employee over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a former inmate at a Hunter jail.

The 52-year-old woman was a Service and Programs Officer and allegedly had a romantic relationship with a 56-year-old male inmate.

Detectives began an investigation into the allegations in June and arrested the woman at a Muswellbrook home around 10:30am yesterday.

She was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station and charged with engage in relationship with inmate cause safety risk and engage in sexual conduct compromise sentence.

She was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on September 21.

The woman’s employment has been suspended.

Police will address the media at midday.
