Work on restoring Appleby Lane is well underway, with 1.5-kilometres of gravel road being sealed and patched up as part of the $4.3-million dollar upgrades.
The construction will allow heavy vehicles to bypass Tamworth and have faster access to Gunnedah Road.
A blind spot at one end of the lane is also being removed.
“It can be quite dangerous so we are actually going to take that rise out, so we’ll cut into Appleby Lane and flatten that section of road so that you have clear visibility coming into that intersection.”
