MID COAST CORRECTIONAL OFFICER CHARGED WITH TRAFFICKING

A correctional officer has been charged after she allegedly smuggled tobacco and two mobile phone chargers into a prison on the Mid North Coast.
Last month, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit established Strike Force Acres to investigate the introduction of contraband by a female correctives officer.
Following investigations, detectives arrested a 49-year-old woman at a home at Port Macquarie at about 11 o’clock yesterday morning.
She was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with unlawfully secrete thing for inmate to receive.
Police allege the woman trafficked the contraband into a correctional facility in July this year.
She was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court in October, and has been suspended by Corrective Services NSW.
Investigations are continuing.
