NEW TOWN HALTED FOR PLANT PRESERVATION

The Land and Environment Court has upheld a challenge against what would be New South Wales’ biggest single, residential development.
The judgement found that the Huntlee proposal, which would create a new town centre in the Hunter Valley for 20,000 people, does not comply with State Planning Policy for habitat protection.
The area has been found to be home to the endangered Persoonia plant.
