BRANDY HILL QUARRY EXPANSION | FEDERAL ENVIRONMENT MINISTER MAKES A TRIP TO THE HUNTER
They’ve been campaigning for two months and today, the Save Port Stephens Koalas group finally got a meeting with Sussan Ley.
The meeting was held in secret, with no media allowed to attend.
The Federal Environment Minister said she’ll look to science, when she makes her final decision on the Brandy Hill Quarry expansion.
“Today, we stressed to the minister and her team that the offset requirements that we key to the approval of this project have been deemed inadequate and they won’t properly mitigate the impacts against the koalas in this region.” – Lachlan Howell, University of Newcastle.
“If she uses this information, she will make the right decision to protect our koalas.” – Chantal Parslow, Save Port Stephens Koalas.
The Minister has two weeks to make the decision.
