ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR P-PLATE DRIVER FOLLOWING SERIOUS CRASH

More charges have been laid against a P-plate driver, following a serious crash on the Central Coast last week.

Police allege the car was being driven by a 17-year-old boy when it left Patonga Drive at Pearl Beach and hit a tree about 12.10am on Friday October 2.

A 17-year-old male back-seat passenger was treated at the scene for serious head injuries before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Two other male passengers – both aged 17 – were treated at Gosford Hospital for their injuries.

Following further inquiries, police have determined two more passengers – boys aged 16 and 17 – were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The younger boy sustained a fractured arm and required surgery.

As a result, the teenage driver has been charged with two additional offences:
• Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm; and
• Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He will next appear in children’s court on Friday October 16.
