EARLY MORNING PURSUIT IN NEWCASTLE

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested following a high speed chase through Newcastle overnight.
The teenager was a passenger in a Ford Falcon seen travelling through a red light near Scott Street just before 3.20 this morning.
Police attempted to pull the vehicle over before a pursuit through the CBD, with the car allegedly reaching speeds of 150-kilometres an hour along Hunter Street.
The pursuit was terminated but the car was detected along Hannel Street, before coming to a stop on Elizabeth Street.
The driver and another passenger fled the scene, but police managed to arrest the teenager.
Police allege the car was stolen from the Central Coast, and they recovered property from an alleged break and enter on Monday.
The girl is assisting police with their inquiries.
