NO SHIP ACTION GROUP CONTINUES FIGHT AGAINST SCUTTLING OFF AVOCA

The No Ship Action Group is threatening to return to the courts.
It follows yesterday’s anouncement from the State Government, that the ex-HMAS Adelaide will be scuttled off Avoca on April 13.
How many court case NSAG need ?? they have instigated the first two, and been told to go home !!! how many more before they need ? to abide by the Law ??.
Exactly Carlo.
The No Ship Action Group has done more whining & created more hot air than the gas turbines of the HMAS Adelaide ever did. When oh when will they come to realise that the vast majority of the community does not support them. They’ve already wasted millions of dollars of taxpayers money with their spurious claims. They should be locked in a room & read the fable of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” over & over until they realise what an annoyance they’ve become & apologise to the Central Coast for the millions of dollars they’ve wasted.
same ship = same problems
Stop the Sinking Madness!
Dear Natalie,
Please educate yourself at http://www.ccarp.net
Wake Mo Ships are full of lies which was proven last night
How much money dose No Ships want to waste?
I cant wait for the No Ship group to take it back to court because when they loose im ready to start court proceedings against each and every one of them for every thing they ever own?
CHRIS ARTCHER, “LIBERAL MEMBER FOR NSAG” !!!!!
Dumping Warships in the Ocean is so old school
I hate the no ship action group. Bring on April.
IT IS NOW OR NEVER !!!! t Us Avocados should realize that is time to uprise against a small group of NSAG which have held the entire Avoca Village under a Dictatorial state.
Take example from the Egyptian and the Libyans, uprising, let`s oust out the NSAG dictators which have ashamed Avoca Village worldwide.
Read the facts. This warship has toxins. It’s near-identical sister ship is breaking up off the coast near Geelong Victoria right now. The debris is washing up on the beach.
The No Ship group has stopped this same fate from happening at Avoca Beach. A thank you is in order. The silence is deafening.
Facts??? Every “fact” that the No Ship Group has tried to use to prevent the scuttling was proved to be either spurious, based on false premises or highly exaggerated. Somebody should buy this group a copy of “Chemistry for Dummies” so they can learn the difference between elements & a compounds and quit their whining about the lead which exists as a biologically inert compound. Next they’ll be moaning about all the dangerous Hydrogen (dihydrogen monoxide) & explosive sodium (sodium chloride) in the ocean! The No Ship Group has cried “Wolf” once too often to be ever taken seriously. When they pay back to the community the millions of dollars that they’ve wasted that could’ve been put towards Central Coast roads & schools they might get a “thank you”!
Lines from Chris Hartcher, statement, Liberal member for Terrigal
The Court has, subject to the corrections being made and its orders being complied with, authorised the sinking of the Adelaide.
the NSW Coalition has no objection to the sinking of the vessel.
If the Coalition is elected to office at the State Election on 26 March 2011, the sinking of the Adelaide will proceed.
Friday 25 Feb 2011.
Thank you Chris
Firstly, I’d like to point out that if spelling skills are in anyway correlated with intelligence, then the aggregate I.Q of the ship supporters is worryingly low. Secondly, if NSAG is holding the entire village to ransom then the locals who support the venture are sadly lacking in backbone as we’ve neither seen nor heard these folks in the past year, except to post comments under vague pseudonyms. There are no real consequences for these poor misinformed sods except perhaps a look of disdain, so stand up in real time with real names and be counted. I hazard to deduce that the villagers are not being held to ransom but rather supporters are a small group who are such a minority that they daren’t speak up. If you can bring yourself to it, there are plenty of facts with supporting references and legitimate independent experts provided on the NSAG’s web site. Stop inciting hate, learn to spell and open your mind to the truth! Who knows, it might set you free?
Mirta… Mirta !!! What A master of literate, you are, I am all shook up impressed from your comment, I like to tell you, the NSAG website is one big LIE from top to end.
The ADELAIDE IS GOING TO BE SCUTTLED 200% FOR SURE.
After that you can go back to impress the gullible……smarty.
DID YOU GET THAT SMARTY ???.
By the amount of spelling mistakes it looks like Crap(also known as Ccarp) has hired an army of people from a third world country where English is not their first language to post on these forums to try to make it look like they have support from number of people, either that or they are recruiting from the local kindergarten.
Avocado! I’ve only just found the time to give your erroneous comments the time-of-day, which they barely deserve! I hope you have your dictionary in tow!
It is supremely simple to proclaim sweeping statements, embedded with accusations of “lies, all lies”, without accompanying evidence to support your claims.
I can give you numerous examples of where the process has broken down and betrayed the constituents, the good citizens of Avoca Beach. Firstly, the blatant breach of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal condition that a new scuttling date should NOT be set until it has been proven that all of the conditions have been met!! Now wouldn’t that be illegal? Who will sue whom in the end I wonder?
You see in the simplest terms possible, the Ex-HMAS Adelaide is made of identical materials and in identical design to the Ex-HMAS Canberra (dumped off Geelong), the Ex-HMAS Canberra is corroding and breaking up, becoming unsafe (you see?)….. Now we have rougher conditions in our waters, which incidentally host whales and their calves at set times in the year, that would be during migration season.
Not only will the Ex-HMAS Adelaide break up faster than the Canberra, it’s many thousands of square metres of toxic lead paint will exfoliate and waft about into our closed beach system and end up in our water, our sand, our lake etc etc.
Now, why would we engage in such reckless abondon, such risk-taking behaviour?? Hmmm… All for the sake of a small business in Terrigal which has managed to convince the wayward government that it would be a mutually convenient coupling if they, the Government could dispose of some problem garbage and the small business could stand to increase their profits. As for economic benefit? For whom? Terrigal perhaps. Avoca will lose, lose, lose (note the spelling here ;-)) as we will get the reputation for “toxic beach” and lose the business of many of the 50,000+ beach-users per annum.
Now, go forth and do some reading and research and by all means reply with something worth publishing by responding to the content in this post rather than bandying about with sweeping statements, insults and unsubstantiated waffle!
And please don’t reference CCARP (incidentally, when spelt ‘carp’, carries the definition of a fish which is a pest in Australia, introduced by white settlers; furthermore, poor water quality is not a problem with carp). My point? CCARP are indeed just so symbolically representative of their namesake that I had to take the opportunity!!! On a serious level, CCARP and the government were exposed as liars at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal hearing in 2010. Why would you trust them to provide the right information in 2011?
Good luck with cleaning up the mess if this stupidity comes to fruition.
PS there is at least one grammatical error in my post. I wonder if you can spot it without any help from anyone else?
Well done Mirta. One grammatical error to draw attention away from the multiple factual errors.
1. The Administrative Appeals Tribunal set several conditions – setting/ not setting a date was not one of them. In fact, the conditions that were set by the AAT (removal of exfoliating paint, removal of canvas/ insulation, removal of systems linked with PCBs and long term monitoring) were made as variations to the original permit. Also, it isn’t illegal to set a scuttling date without a permit – only to carry out the scuttling. So if you could lay out the paragraph in the AAT decision that stipulates where this ‘blatant reach’ lies?
2. HMAS Canberra was made to a different design to HMAS Adelaide (Adelaide being based on the original design of the Oliver Hazard Perry class and Canberra being based on the upgraded ‘second generation’) Adelaide required a later modification to bring her to the same size as the Canberra.
3. HMAS Canberra is scuttled in Bass Strait off Ocean Grove. Not only rougher waters but also exposed to multiple currents, a larger tidal range, a focused tidal stream channeled from Port Phillip Bay via the Rip and set in an undersea river canyon with a further current provided by the outfall of the Barwon river. Multiple stresses as opposed to a single prevailing current in Avoca.
4. Canberra has a 150mm crack along one side of her hangar. Not breaking up or ‘detached’ as stated by NSAG on multiple occasions. Stress fracture maybe a more accurate description – see point 3 for why this may be the case.
5. ‘Waft about your closed beach system and end up in our water, our sand, our lake’ – Alarmist and completely without substance. Even your own experts have agreed it won’t travel far from the site (in-line with most research on the subject) and it is unlikely to exceed the guidelines for lead in sediment.
6. ‘CCARP and the government were exposed as liars at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal’, where as NSAG withdrew most of their claims (possibly to stop the same fate befalling them). Even one of their experts evidence was described by the AAT as ‘bordering on the fanciful’
By the way, why would NSAG be concerned if CCARP has people with a first language other than English or children from kindergarten supporting them? After all NSAG are the first to roll the kiddies out holding the No Ship signs their parents made for them at any photo opportunity. Hypocrisy or xenophobia? You can decide
I guess the children should be involved as they’ll be the ones most effected by high lead levels in the sand and water they’ll ingest over the years to come. Your brain and mine are fully grown now, but high lead levels decrease intelligence in the still growing young brain, including those still in mum’s tum.
I really like the “Aboriginal Whale caller” that the NSAG have now resorted too. Wankers!
To The N.S.A.G
Maybe next time look a little closer to home before shooting your politicly incorrect mouths off. Go and test the water of your so called pristine lake, Then tell us the public just how much detergent and chemical run off from your own houses have polluted the lake & the beach. Try cleaning up your own mess in your own back yard.
Central coast 1. No ship action group zero
Can any one tell me if the No Ship Action Group was charged with defacing public property and given the clean up bill for the illegal Grafiti on the roads and fences.
Are they not aware there were harmfull chemicals in that paint.I bet your ass they were not fined or made to clean up the enviroment that they damaged.
Next they will complain that the Bowling club is polluting the lake with weed and bug spray. Gee i wonder.
I am pretty dam sure that if i went and painted across the road ” sink the ship” i would be charged and fined.
Liz, high lead levels do indeed have an adverse affect of developing brains. But the levels that would be experienced in Avocoa would not exceed (or even come close to) those levels. Is there an issue already, because of airborne lead dust (and not just from paint) from the older houses/ buildings in the area? I notice NSAG seem to ignore this fact. Maybe that’s the true description of a NIMBY, or maybe it’s just a case of selective hearing.
I think the bigger threat to the kids development is having their parents drag the kids out of school, use them as a tool for sell their parents own agendas and feed them full of c**p. As exciting as it is for the kids to go down to the beach and watch their parents play papier mache puppets with each other and get to bang 44 gal drums together, how many of those kids are sitting there this morning asking to go own and watch the ship blow up with their mates?
oi mirta, i’ve got 2 things to say to you
1. you think that no one has thought about the ship breaking up and made sure it wouldn’t happen
2. using kids is slack, you see all these kids with the protesters and all of them thinking ” what the hell is this?’
and lastly haha its sunk, you lose, shut up
plus i went to the NSAG website, what a waste of internet and what the hell was with that woman on the telly ” we called an aboriginal whale caller to help us” you guy are absolute fruitcakes
