PAIR CHARGED WITH DRUG SUPPLY AT TAMWORTH
Two men have been charged with drug-related offences following an investigation into the supply of methylamphetamine in the state’s north east.
In March 2020, officers attached to Western Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Pippen to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine across Tamworth, Brewarrina and surrounding communities.
On Wednesday 23 September 2020, police stopped a vehicle returning to Tamworth from Sydney on the New England Highway at Timbumburi, 15km south of Tamworth.
Officers spoke with the driver, a 28-year-old Tamworth man, before conducting a search of the vehicle and the three occupants.
Police will allege two plastic bags containing methylamphetamine were located in the vehicle.
Following inquiries, police arrested the 28-year-old man at a home on Cole Road, Tamworth, about 11.45am on Tuesday 13 October 2020.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug – less than commercial quantity (x2) and possess prohibited drug.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Monday 2 November 2020.
Following further enquiries, police arrested a 33-year-old man at Tamworth Police Station shortly after 12pm yesterday (Tuesday 20 October 2020).
The man was charged with supply prohibited drug – less than commercial quantity (x3).
He was bail refused to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 21 October 2020).
