NEWCASTLE COUNCIL SELLS CAR PARKING STATIONS

Newcastle City Council will sell two of its three car parking stations in a move that will help clear the city’s infrastructure backlog.

The council has exchanged contracts on 50 Bolton Street and 292 King Street with a single purchaser who has indicated both will continue to operate as car parking stations.

Manager of Commercial Enterprise Services Daniel Ballantyne says council was able to sell the carparks above the reserve price and what had been valued independently.

In April, NBN News reported that the council had an infrastructure backlog in the vicinity of $120-million.
