HUNTER DOCTORS CALL FOR STRICTER ENVIRONMENTAL POWER STATION STANDARDS
Local health workers are putting pressure on the state government tonight, to tighten environmental standards for Lake Macquarie power stations.
A ‘Healthy Futures’ conference – currently underway online – is looking at the health impacts of air pollution, and what solutions can be implemented.
“The problem is that those licences were written 20 and 30 years ago, and they haven’t kept up with the science and I think it’s high time that the licences were modernised to require those power stations to put on the modern pollution control gear that is used in every other country.” – Dr Ben Ewald, Doctors for the Environment Australia
