RESIDENTS RAISE CONCERNS OVER PLANS TO SELL OFF DISABILITY HOUSING

UPDATE: Cessnock City Council says the developer has now withdrawn its Development Application.

Cessnock residents have raised concerns about the possible sale of special needs housing.

The new owner of a cluster of King Street dwellings – formerly owned by disability support service Endeavour Industries – has put in an application to subdivide them.

“We’re meant to be here, it was built for us, and we want to stay here.” – Dianne Scanlon, resident.

“These people have been together since they were born in this community, and we want them to stay in this commnunity and be safe.” – Lorraine Barnes, disability support worker.

NBN News has contacted Cessnock Council for comment.
