Staff at the University of Newcastle are nervous about the future, with the Deputy Vice Chancellor telling them last night that 530 subjects, eight undergraduate and 14 postgraduate degrees will be consolidated or cut next year.
“We always wanted to do this to our curriculum as part of our life ready graduate strategy but the other part of it is that it does change the nature of the way we do our education and that may effect jobs.”
It will also suspend four postgraduate degree programs in creative industries, due to low student numbers.
