As post-Christmas festivities continue, police are urging drivers to travel safely and take extra care on New South Wales Roads.
Double-demerit points remain in place until midnight on January 3rd.
Police are targeting drivers who are speeding, not wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones and failing to wear a helmet on a motorbike.
The four D’s are also being targeted: drinking, drug-use, dangerous and distracted driving.
Karen Webb, Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, says the warning to drive safely is even more important since one person lost their life on New South Wales roads since the operation commenced.
So far, there have been 57 major crashes and 833 speed infringements issued.
“We hope to see drivers taking care while visiting loved ones during the festive season, as police continue to patrol all roads throughout the operation” Ms Webb says.
