7-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN HOSPITAL AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR AT EVANS HEAD

A 7-year-old girl is in hospital tonight after being hit by a car on the state’s Far North Coast.

Emergency crews were called to Elm Street in Evans Head just after 4:30 this afternoon.

Paramedics treated the girl for serious head injuries, before she was airlifted to the Brisbane Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was uninjured but taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash are under investigation.
