GROUP 4 POWERHOUSE UNSUCCESSFUL WITH TRANSFER REQUEST

The North Tamworth Bears have had a planned move to Group 21 rugby league blocked, at a Group 4 meeting over the weekend.

The three-time defending champions are keen to shift south with hopes of facing stronger teams.

But their current competition’s committee rejected the request, as it would’ve left just five sides in first grade.

Meanwhile Group 4’s second division has discarded the tier system, with 11 teams to play against each other in 2017.

Wee Waa has moved back to the top level, and Quirindi hasn’t entered a team yet.
