NEW ENGLAND RESIDENTS WARNED OF BREAK AND ENTERS

Residents in Tamworth and Armidale are urged to update their home security following a spate of break-ins across the region.

Two teenage boys, aged 14 and 17, have been charged over multiple break and enters in East Tamworth.

At midnight on Friday, officers from Oxley Police District noticed the two boys walking on Napier Street after they received reports of a break and enter at a home on Darling Street.

The police subsequently searched the boys, seizing a knife and a number of items that were allegedly stolen.

Following a further search of the area, three sets of keys and multiple mobile phones were found.

They were arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The 14-year old boy appeared at a children’s court on Saturday, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear there today.

Meantime, the 17-year-old boy was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 16th of February.
