POLICE LOOKING FOR MAN AFTER NEWCASTLE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are appealing to the public to help them find a man, after an armed robbery in Newcastle last night.

About 8.30pm, a man armed with a firearm entered Henny Penny on Cowper Street, at Wallsend.

The man threatened four employees, before stealing cash and a handbag.

The armed man left through the back door, and a female employee chased him into Irving Street where he got in the passenger side of a car, which was driven away.

Police attended and set up a crime scene.

The employees were not physically injured.

Officers are now looking to speak to a man they believe could assist them.

He’s described as being aged between 25 and 30, 180cm to 185cm tall, of a medium build.

He was last seen wearing a grey hooded jumper, a face covering and long black pants.

Anyone with information should contact Newcastle Police.
