RSPCA REMOVES KOALA’S AT GUNNEDAH

The RSPCA has removed the entire koala population from the Waterways Wildlife Park at Gunnedah.
The organisation believes the animals were malnourished, but the owners of the sanctuary says that’s nonsense.

RSPCA must have some big orders for Koalas from Japan or China and can see a big profit. Self interest and the money motive is the dominant interest. Suggest looking into RSPCA profit motives for a stunt like this.
One report was that the RSPCA was accompanied by a film crew. So is their brief to care for animals, or is it to be sensational for money raising? Their TV show is very “over the top” in beating up purported cruelty. Perhaps this is just another instance, knowing that Joe Public will react to purported cruelty if an Australian Icon (koala) is involved.
Why did they only take the Koalas, did they not need echidnas, dingoes and wombats? If the RSPCA genuinely cared about animals they would not have anaesthetised animals which their vets claimed were ‘stressed’? Not to mention that Nancy has been caring for Koalas for 30 years and knows more than the RSPCA inspectors. More importantly where are our Koalas? If the RSPCA were informed they would know that the Koalas in Gunnedah are one of the few populations that are increasing and free from Chlaymdia. Is the old female Koala who was living out her final days still alive? Or was she killed by the stress of an anaesthetic and travel? If these animal are not quarantined properly we will not want them back. The RSPCA needs to refocus on their primary objective of caring for animals rather than raising money by targeting elderly people who they believe can be bullied. I think they underestimated the community they took on this time.
I Just watched Cold Case on NBN 9.30 to 10.30 10 Feb, about women pilots in ww11 based in USA. So one gets interested in the show and you end up listening to noise and moving lips, but no voices.
Is this incompetent control of what is transmitted even after the stupid adds?
Is someone monitoring what goes to air or not?
Or is some sort of stupid artistic license?
One wonders?
RSPCA calls for calm???? They lost any integrity when they turned up with a camera crew. You cannot incite hatred by being heavy handed & holier than though, then call for calm when people object to what you have done. I hope they never ring me looking for donations again.
I feel very distressed by this report. It must have been most upsetting for the koalas as well as the owners of the park. If the rspca was genuinely concerned for the welfare of the animals they would have examined the koalas at their own premises, without a film crew..
The rspca must be desperate to get a different story for their fake “reality show”. Fancy lifting a horse with ropes instead of a sling! Well that’s what we’re supposed to believe. I think the entire segment was a fake or the horse would have been badly hurt. (Aired 10 Feb 2010)
The Port News printed in Port Macquarie has reported that the koalas are in the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Port Macquarie is rife with Chlamydia so possibly the koalas will never be returned to Gunnedah.
I can’t understand why the National Parks and Wildlife haven’t become involved as my understanding is anyone handling koalas has to be licensed with them and people not licensed cannot handle these animals.
It sounds very much like a beat up to provide a sensational story. It sure achieved that, but not the way it might have been planned.
Google “Stanford Prison Experiment” to learn how a small group with unsupervised power go rogue. You will now understand RSPCA. But worse, RSPCA tactics include mantras like the animals were mal treated, the dogs were covered in urine and faeces. — forget the truth – it is all about justifying their actions and enraging the public against their victims. I would not be at all surprised if RSPCA through their lies cause these people to get many months of telephone abuse, have people come to their property and abuse them. This is RSPCA tactics.
What are you thinking RSPCA. No more donations for you. You have hit rock bottom. Is ratings more important than animals. I have visited this wonderful park and found the animals well cared for and loving life. The Staff were ever so friendly and helpful. Shame Shame Shame .
rspca, your behaving no better then your terrorist friends,PETA….rspca W A have that much bad publicity…shame shame shame……
RSPCA (ACT) Willlife doesn’r care for “All Creatures Great And Small” – not for Eastern Grey kangarooss, certainly — which it’s encouraged the ACT government to kill in great numbers, mainly so that land development can go ahead.
So why has RSPCA NSW gone into Gunnedah and removed all koalas without any mandate for caring for Australian native wildlife?, especially if the vet said the koalas were all healthy and well cared for? We need more explanation about what really happened and the reasons why.

I used to have a lot of time for the RSPCA but lately they have been going down completely the wrong path IMO.
Why do they feel they need to get involved with highly politicised activities like this? They used to do a good job looking out for domestic animals in real need of help.
Taking along film crews to publicise something that is borderline illegal without consulting anyone is bizzare.
And their recent attack on a shire council worker who euthenased a kangaroo after it had been hit by a car, rather than wait until a vet could come along is another example. Leave people alone who are trying to do the right thing.
Perhaps the RSPCA should take a good look at the HS(US) whom they seem to mimicking.
HS(US) have just been taken to court over very similar practises to those the RSPCA are now starting to routinely use.
I hope the RSPCA go back to their roots and leave this sensationist media activity to the nutters like PETA>
with a shot to the head is another example of
If Mr Whan, Minister for Primary Industries does not have the power to intercede on raid of the Koala by the RSPCA at Waterways Wildlife Park, who does. Did he offer the $5000 to the fighting fund to ease his conscience. This Society. seems to have as much power as the police while being unaccountable and untouchable by anyone. After reading “The Ruth Downey Inquisition” I feel the RSPCA is indeed an empire constructed to service an inner circle behind fortress walls, maintained by public donations.
I feel sorry for the people at the Waterways Wildlife Park and what they went through, as I’ve previously seen the RSPCA act in what I regard as an illegal and prejudicial way. When I tried to complain on several occasions, they just defended their inspectors and perpetuated the provable lies. In several times one case they acted along with a police officer under investigation for corruption.
i found that no one had the power to oversee or investigate the RSPCA, neither the the Auditor General or Ombudsman… and yet the inspectors have the power of special constables.
I heard through contacts that has also suffered from their ‘jackboot behaviours” that every time the RSPCA, gets a “tear-jerking bust on TV, the donations flow in from all the old dears and they get left properties in people’s wills”
Having been threatened with an RSPCA officer “armed” with a revolver in his back pocket, that if I did not put some horses down I would be prosecuted, when my vet had told me that we could save the horses, I had to shoot the horses and then a couple of donkeys, as I could not afford to be prosecuted by a corrupt RSPCA inspector.
I felt totally intimidated by their behaviour on several occasions. and just thank God, that at that stage, they did not have a camera crew with them.
They were being willingly used as a weapon in a dispute with a nasty neighbour.
Their powers should be curtailed. Accountability mechanisms brought in and the Auditor General and Ombudsman given jurisdiction and an investigation into their defaming people via the media and prosecuting people acting with Vested Interests should take place as a Judicial Inquiry or Royal Commission.
