UPDATED: TWO DEAD IN MID NORTH COAST CRASH

A crash involving a car and truck north of Port Macquarie this morning, has claimed the lives of two people and injured three others.

Police say a southbound Hyundai sedan collided with a northbound furniture truck along the Pacific Highway between Kundabung and the Cooperabung Range just after 5am.

40-year-old Niki Taylor and her 12-year-old daughter died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl – also in the sedan – were taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the truck was trapped for an hour before being released.

He sustained critical head injuries and has been flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
