TRADITIONAL ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATIONS TO RESUME IN TAMWORTH

Tamworth RSL sub branch is encouraging the community to honour the fallen this ANZAC Day.

The pandemic brought commemorations to a halt last year, with most residents instead participating in candle-lit vigils from their driveways.

This year, plans are underway to resume the city’s traditional dawn service.

Crowds will be capped at 1,000 with the sub-branch putting marshals in place to monitor numbers.

“We’re lucky enough to be able to bring back the same program that we’d normally have. So, we’ll have the dawn service, we’ll have a veterans walk and we’ll have the main service in Town Hall.”

Residents are being encouraged to donate to the annual Anzac Appeal, which supports local veterans.
