60 SKILLED MEAT WORKERS ARRIVE IN TAMWORTH TO ASSIST WITH LABOUR SHORTAGE

It’s hoped the arrival of 60 skilled meat workers will help address a labour shortage in Tamworth.

The team of Pacific Island workers flew into the city on Tuesday after completing two weeks quarantine in Sydney.

They’ll be deployed across the region’s larger meat corporations, including Thomas Foods International and Baiada.

It’s understood the arrangement is a six-month contract between Tamworth Regional Council and an employment agency.

The workers will be housed at Tamworth Airport’s Flight Training Facility, which has been vacant for several months.
