CYCLING GREAT WINS MICK CHAPMAN MEMORIAL

Post race he described it as tougher than last year, but 12-time Tour De France rider Robbie McEwan has avenged his third placing in 2012 to win the 3rd annual Mick Chapman Memorial Criterium at Honeysuckle.

The veteran, riding for Orica GreenEdge, was pushed to the wire by 17-year-old two-time junior world track champion Jack Edwards from Penrith.

“I saw someone coming up on my left, but was able just to hang on.”

It was clearly a popular victory – both Edwards, and 3rd placegetter Bradley Heffernan are members of the Institute of Sport.
