Victoria has been forced into its fourth lockdown since the start of the pandemic.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
As of 11:59pm Thursday, 27th of May, Victorian’s will have only five reasons to leave home.
This includes:
– Shopping for essential items (within 5km of residency)
– Exercising for a maximum of TWO hours with only ONE other person (within 5km of residency)
– Caregiving
– Work where working from home is not possible
– To get a COVID-19 vaccine
Today marks the first day of the “circuit breaker” lockdown, with the aim to control the outbreak.
It is also Victorian residents’ 160th day in lockdown since the pandemic began.
Overnight, Victoria recorded four new locally acquired cases of COVID-19, bringing the cluster to 30 positive cases.
In the last 24 hours the state had a record 47,462 people come forward for testing.
Today, there are more staff working at COVID-19 testing clinics with many medical professionals relocated from elective surgery.
INFORMATION FOR ANYONE WHO HAS ARRIVED IN NSW FROM VICTORIA:
Anyone who has arrived in New South Wales from Victoria since 4pm yesterday must abide by the same restrictions during the seven-day lockdown.
This means NSW residents who have been in Victoria must remain at their home, only leaving for the same five reasons as Victorians.
NSW Health have advised that “NSW residents in border communities have different requirements, recognising the daily interaction of residents in these communities with regional Victoria.”
“For NSW residents living along the Victorian border, the seven-day stay-at-home requirement only applies to people who have been outside the border region in Victoria since 4pm yesterday. The border communities are defined by the map which was used for the previous ‘bubble’ arrangements.”
For anyone arriving in NSW from Victoria, a travel declaration form must be completed to confirm they have not attended any of the venues of concern.
If they have attended any number of these venues, they are not to enter NSW.
So far, 28 close contacts in NSW who attended venues of concern in Victoria have returned negative results.
These people will continue to isolate for 14 days from their exposure date and will be tested again before the end of their isolation period.
