FARMERS ON ALERT FOR SBE
North West Local Land Service is asking farmers to keep an eye out for cattle acting out of character.
The region’s vets are seeing an increasing number of Sporadic Bovine Encephalomyelitis cases.
The bacterial disease initially appears as weakness, depression, excess salivation, and weight loss before progressing to neurological signs, such as blindness and seizures.
It most commonly appears in calves under six months old.
But if any cattle is displaying these symptoms farmers are encouraged to call their local veterinarian.
