A third beach has been closed, following another shark sighting at Newcastle today.
A boardrider saw a shark at the Cowrie Hole and reported it to lifeguards, who promptly closed nearby Newcastle Beach.
Earlier in the day, commercial divers working at the harbour entrance reported what’s thought to have been a larger shark.
That sighting prompted the closure of Nobbys and Stockton beaches, which will remain closed for the rest of the day.
