FLYING FOX RESCUED AFTER BECOMING TRAPPED IN BARBED WIRE

A flying fox has been rescued in a delicate operation at Oakhampton.

A local family noticed the creature was caught in barbed wire in the middle of their dam and called Hunter Wildlife Rescue for help.

A phone operator leapt into action, organising Maitland SES and a Rutherford RSPCA ranger to reach the flying fox by boat and cut it free.

It’s now in the care of an experienced rehabilitator.

Good job, team!
