POLICE TARGET DANGEROUS DRIVING THIS WEEKEND
Hunter police have launched a weekend roads blitz, in a bid to reduce serious accidents.
More officers will be on patrol, targeting speed, drug and drink-driving.
“If you see someone in a pub that’s been drinking and they look like they’re grabbing their car keys to drive, have a chat to them, tell them not to.” – Inspector Michael Buko, Hunter Valley Highway Patrol.
The operation comes amid a rise in the number of fatal crashes in the region this year.
More than 500 people were found drink driving in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie region since January.
