URUNGA RESIDENTS WANT SPEED REDUCTION

The results of a survey of Urunga residents living adjacent to the Pacific Highway are in.

There’s an overwhelming amount of support to reduce the speed limit to 40 kilometres per hour, as Roads and Martime Services examine the issue.

  1. Thursday night from 6pm till 8pm and friday morning 2 pacific hwy action group persons conducted a survey with the residents living on the pacific hwy

    80% of resident whom were home wanted a speed reduction of 40km or 50km

    .,The residents felt if they went for 40km they knew drivers would do 10km over , so lower the better
    . The noise factor was overwhelming for local residents.
    The increse of speed was gaged by louder noise levels noticed by local residents, Also the over whelming difference of noise and speed by motorists with the RMS turning off of the speed cameras
    The message from the local residents was please respect our town especially in the late too early hours of the morning

    A great percentage of local residents living on the HWY wanted speed camera”s at either end

    Local Residents felt that the Government needed to Enforce the Trucking Company”s to install Black Boxes or Ssurvellance Cameras in AllTtrucks and IIf this was to be Enforced that the RMS had to have the rites to check all appliances
