POLICE POSTPONE SEARCH FOR POSSIBLE MISSING SWIMMER

Police and Surf Life Savers have postponed the search for a woman who may have gone missing after a late night swim at Byron’s Main Beach.
Police say a witness saw the woman undress and walk into the surf sometime between 10.30 and 11.30 on Saturday night.
But she wasn’t seen emerging from the water, and a while later her clothes were still on the beach.
The possible disappearance sparked a full scale sea, land and air search yesterday morning, but it has been called off until a person is reported missing.
“Police are appealing for any information on the missing person, of if anybody knows somebody who’s missing these items of clothing. Just to come forward so we don’t have it on the back of our minds that there could be somebody out there”.
Lifesavers are reminding beachgoers not to swim at night.
