A decision on the extension of the Vickery Coal mine, near Gunnedah, has been pushed back once again.
Federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley has now delayed any sign off, until September 15.
Whitehaven Coal says the construction and operation of the open cut mine will create 950 jobs.
