Carrigan Road between Mungindi and Boomi has now been fully sealed.
The $11.6-million upgrade will make the route safer for heavy vehicles, saving detours of up to 240 kilometres on rainy days.
Along with the tarmac, the road now has new line markings and widened shoulders.
