ROCK FISHERMAN DROWNS

A rock fisherman has drowned after a mishap at Wybung Head in the Lake Munmorah National Park, south of Newcastle.
It’s believed the man, aged in his 50s, was washed or fell from a rock platform, either late last night or early this morning.
The body of the man, who was of Asian appearance, was located by a rescue helicopter 500 metres offshore, at about 1 o’clock this afternoon.
Today’s conditions were relatively calm but the area is a notorious spot for rock fishermen.
Surf Lifesaving New South Wales is tonight warning anglers not to fish alone and always wear a life jacket.
