WANTED MAN ARRESTED AFTER FIVE-DAY OPERATION IN THE NORTH WEST
A man wanted on several outstanding warrants has been charged during a five-day police operation in the North West.
‘Operation Tailwind’ was established last year to prevent, and respond to, anti-social behaviour throughout the Oxley Police District.
This week, officers attached to Operation Tailwind targeted the CBD areas of Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Wee Waa, where they conducted business inspections, ADVO compliance checks and move on directions.
Following inquiries, officers attended a home on Jaegar Street in Tamworth just before midday on Tuesday.
They proceeded to speak with a man, before he ran inside and allegedly armed himself with a knife.
He was arrested a short time later, taken to Gunnedah Police Station and charged with carrying the weapon during apprehension, as well as five warrants relating to firearm, domestic violence, break-and-enter and property offences.
He’s been refused bail to front Gunnedah Local Court on December 8.
Operation Tailwind will continue with further deployments in the coming months.
