BODY FOUND IN SEARCH FOR MISSING LENNOX HEAD SWIMER

A body has been retrieved from waters off Lennox Head on the Far North Coast, following a two day search for a missing swimmer.

A 19-year-old man was last seen in the surf there, around 6pm on Friday.

Police, Marine Rescue and surf life savers have all scoured the coastline – before the grim discovery was made by a police helicopter.

The body was recovered by divers near Seven Mile Beach around 10:15am, before it was taken to Ballina by Water Police.

It has yet to be formally identified.

The 19-year-old man’s family was at the beach this morning and has been provided with support by local police.
