TEEN CHARGED OVER FATAL STABBING
A teenage boy will appear in court today charged with murder after a fatal stabbing on the Central Coast.
Just after 11pm on January 11, emergency services were called to Langford Drive, Kariong, following reports of a stabbing.
When police arrived, they found a 13-year-old boy with a stab wound to his chest.
Officers were told the teen was injured during an altercation.
Members of the community performed CPR on the boy before emergency services arrived; he was taken to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.
Police set up a crime scene, which is being examined by specialist forensic officers.
Following inquiries, a 13-year-old boy was arrested at a home nearby and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with murder.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on January 12.
Detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
