CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OFFICE LAUNCH WELL-BEING FRAMEWORK IN WINGHAM

Student well-being is at the forefront of the local Catholic Schools Office

newest policy and framework – launched at St Joseph’s Primary in Wingham this week.

Preventative skills for mental health issues will now be implemented in all 59 schools across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

Parents and teachers will play a vital role.

“We are articulating what is important for schools around student well-being and what supports their learning in schools, their engagement and motivation,” Catholic Schools Office Education Officer Renee Tyczynski said.

It comes after a 2019 study found that almost half of all mental health conditions emerge by the age of 14.
