History has been made in Newcastle Rugby League, with Port Stephens winning its first game this afternoon, beating Lakes by 16.
Souths and Macquarie also scored victories.
At Cessnock, Maitland was out to spoil the party, Colby Schrader crossing first.
Jade Porter doubled the Pickers lead when he went solo from close range.
Not to be outdone, Terrence Seu Seu got involved, scoring one try and setting up another for Cessnock.
Riley Brown then set up Jacob McKendry, as the Goannas mounted a comeback to claim the minor premiership with a 32-28 victory.
