And a lifetime of memories lost.
An elderly woman has been taken to hospital, after jumping off her balcony to escape from her burning house at Edgeworth overnight.
Steve Watson’s 78-year-old mother “Cynthia” was on her own, when the fire broke out inside her Ridley Street home, at 7:30 last night.
“She was in the shower so she actually run down the hallway and jumped over the railing and onto the grass.” Says Steve.
Neighbours rushed to help Cynthia, while more than twenty firefighters worked to put out the blaze.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause.
