The state government is under pressure to reverse its decision to shut down the Glen Innes Agricultural Research Station.
300 people have gathered at the town hall this week to protest the move announced in the mini-budget.
The Member for Northern Tablelands, Richard Torbay, will present a petition to Minister for Primary Industries, Ian Macdonald, next week.
He says the department has failed to recognise the value of the facility and its research.
