Hunter rugby union clubs, Merewether and Maitland are considering taking legal action, after being punished by the NHRU for fielding unregistered players.
The NHRU has suspended both clubs from all premier matches this weekend, and docked points obtained from last weekend’s fixtures.
The NHRU issued a letter last week, warning that such breaches will be punished, however, the club’s claim a clerical error in the registration process could be to blame.
General Manager of the NHRU Andy Fairfull was unavailable today for comment.
