Driver’s lucky escape after being trapped inside car in a sugar cane drain at Condong

A driver has had a lucky escape after he became trapped inside his car in a sugar cane drain at Condong.

Just after 1pm yesterday, emergency services were called to the intersection of Tweed Valley Way and Clothiers Creek, where two cars collided.

Crews removed a number of doors to extricate both drivers from their vehicles.

The man in his 60s was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, while a woman in her 60s was taken to Tweed Hospital.
