ULCERS COST COMMUNITY BILLIONS

Doctors are calling for treatment of one of our most common ulcers to be put on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

270,000 Australians have venous leg ulcers, costing the nation at least $3-billion a year.

  1. i have had an aunt who suffered with this leg ulcer, for many years, so understand, the absolute pain and costs to her.she has sadly passed away now.
    but to help sufferers of these times i fully agree, a great need.

  2. Patients need subsidation for their dressings so they can receive the best care for their needs. Poor care caused by lack of money for dressings only makes matters worse – skin integrity goes down; ulcers deeper and larger and patients generally “dropping their bundle” about the positive outcome. Part of the holistic approach is the care of wounds by the almost best possible means.
