Massive scrap metal yard blaze in Grafton
Dozens of firefighters this morning worked to contain a massive blaze on the outskirts of Grafton in northern New South Wales.
The fire broke out just before 6pm yesterday in a scrap metal yard, emergency services were called to a scrap metal yard on Trenayr Road, Trenayr, following reports of a fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and found about 30 vehicles well alight. The fire was contained about 9pm, however, had spread to approximately 1500 vehicles within the yard.
The fire has since been contained by Fire and Rescue NSW.
Police are appealing for information from the public as they continue to investigate the fire on the state’s Mid north Coast.
Officers attached to Coffs-Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
As inquiries continue, police would like to speak with four males, believed to have been travelling in a white dual cab utility on Trenayr Road, Trenayr, about 5.30pm yesterday.
