Tamworth police were involved in a stand off with an armed man yesterday afternoon.
At 1:30pm, police were called to the Bent Street address, to find a 63-year-old man in the front yard with a rifle.
As they were setting up a perimeter around the home, the man allegedly fired a shot, injuring himself in the head.
“Once the shot was discharged from the firearm, police were able to move in swiftly, arrest the alleged offender, he was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics and transported to tamworth base hospital.”
A search warrant was executed at the premises later in the afternoon, where police seized more firearms and ammunition.
Investigations are still underway.
