Great white shark spotted close to family beach on South Coast
A large great white shark has been spotted on video “cruising” off a popular beach in New South Wales.
The shark was caught on camera yesterday by a fisherman known online as Trapman Bermagui in 20 metres of water near Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermagui on the South Coast.
The fisherman posted the clip of the shark, taken with an underwater camera, to Facebook as “a heads up” to the families who frequent the beach.
“Big white shark cruising off the second point off Bermagui today. 20m of water. Just a heads up,” the fisherman wrote.
He told 9news.com.au sharks were a common sighting off the coast.
“I’ve seen plenty over the years, but not this close to a very popular swimming beach in town,” he said.
Horseshoe Bay Beach is a family-friendly beach with minimal waves and a playground nearby.
