13-car pile up leaves 15 injured on Central Coast road
A 13-car pile up leaving 15 people injured on a key road heading to the New South Wales Central Coast has sparked heavy traffic delays.
NSW Ambulance said 13 cars collided on the M1 Pacific Motorway near Dog Trap Road in Ourimbah about 9am.
Paramedics treated 15 patients including three men and three women in their 30s and 40s with minor injuries who were taken to hospital.
A young girl was also treated for minor injuries and taken to hospital.
The other eight people were assessed at the scene but didn’t need to go to hospital.
“The accident scene covered about 200 metres and required paramedics to assess and a large number of patients following a 13-vehicle collision,” NSW Ambulance inspector Phil Clark said.
“Despite the large number of patients, they all suffered minor injuries only including cuts, abrasions and bruising.”
All northbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Motorway were closed after the crash.
Two lanes have since reopened but one remains closed.
The traffic is “very heavy”, Live Traffic Sydney said, so drivers should leave extra time or avoid the area.
“Emergency services are traffic crews are still at the scene, follow their directions too,” Live Traffic Sydney said.
All southbound lanes on the motorway remain open.
